Show + Craft
Schedule
Week 1, Nov. 9: Storytelling and Crafting
The first puppet show is called “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” It involves magic that the children will need to help with! The children will craft their very own magic fairy puppets and use them throughout the show to help cast magic spells.
Week 2, Nov. 16: Puppets in Performance
This week the ShakesBEARS puppets will perform “Much Ado About Nothing,” and the children will craft their own paper hand puppets. We will explore how to use a puppet stage to create puppet theater. The children can create their own shows with their new puppets!
Week 3, Nov. 30: Up-cycled Object puppets
In the last week we’ll explore object puppetry. After a puppet version of “Love’s Labors Lost,” we’ll play with some everyday objects to see how they can express feeling and character. To finish, everyone will build their own fish puppet out of paper rolls for a “school of fish” puppet parade!
