ShakesBEARS: “The Tempest”

Betrayal . . . magic . . . love . . . redemption.

The ShakesBEARS version of The Tempest has it all.

Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan has been usurped by his younger brother and exiled with his daughter, Miranda, on a deserted island.  But nothing is a simple as it seems when magic is involved . . .

A shipwreck casts the usurping brother ashore along with a very handsome young prince.  Will Prospero take his revenge? Can Miranda resist the charm of seeing her first cute boy?!  Oh, and did I mention Prospero is a wizard?

Everything goes topsy-turvy in this enchanted romantic comedy.

After the show, kids will craft their very own puppets to take home!

Love’s Labors Lost

Ferdinand (king of Navarre) and his bestie Berowne have just sworn off women in order to devote all their time and energy to the pursuit of knowledge. No sooner have they signed the terms of their three-year academic agreement than a boat full of women arrives! Will they stick to their studies? Or fall in love?

After the show we will make our very own puppets to take home!

We at ShakesBEARS are already feeling #HashtagBlessed in 2020!  It’s all because we are truly grateful to have you as part of our family.

Throughout the past year we have made so many new friends by performing at community events, play spaces, birthday parties, and participating in residencies at local preschools.

We are so excited to continue to grow and meet new communities.  We look forward to sharing our love for puppetry and literature with you and many others in the coming new year.

Summer is still here! The perfect time to catch our next show, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

When four lovers in a tangled love square flee to the woods, the mischievous fairy, Puck, takes it upon himself to set them straight with a love potion.  Of course, he only succeeds in making things worse!  But does he feel bad about his mistake?  Nay!  He gleefully decides to watch the lovers’ shenanigans play out.

Afterwards the show we’ll be making sock puppets!
